How I can get rust stains from a painting is oil on muslin? He is 80 years old.?

I found a painting old horse that has been in our family for 80 years. It was painted in white muslin. It has rust spots everywhere. The patches can be released without damage image?

I suggest not to touch the paint or you can regret later. Why not take it for a tutor expert advice and an estimate of how repair cost?
